Getting an ATM card

  • Open a checking account with us and complete a simple ATM card application form at any University Credit Union branch.
  • Your ATM card will be mailed to you within two weeks.
  • Your PIN (personal identification number) will be mailed under separate cover.

Take care - use ATMs safely

Memorize your PIN. Do not write it down anywhere, and do not let anyone borrow your card and PIN. Remember, your PIN is the only way that someone else could get access to your account.

When you're using an ATM, shield the ATM with your body so that the person behind you cannot see you enter your PIN.

Be alert and aware of your surroundings. If something seems suspicious, cancel the transaction immediately and take your card. If possible, have a friend accompany you while you're using the ATM.

When you receive your cash, immediately put it in a pocket out of sight and count it later. Do not stay at the ATM and count your cash.

Please remember to leave enough money in your account to clear any outstanding checks or automatic monthly deductions.

ATM Fees

Transactions at ATMs owned by University Credit Union are free. At non-University Credit Union ATMs, the first 4 transactions per month are free; for each transaction after 4, there is a $1.00 fee. Transactions at ATMs not owned by University Credit Union may incur an additional surcharge from the ATM owner. This fee is not collected or controlled by University Credit Union.

Lost or Stolen ATM Card

If your ATM card is lost or stolen it is very important that you notify University Credit Union as soon as possible.

You can call (786) 425-5000 during business hours to have your card restricted and tagged lost/stolen.

If you realize the loss during non-business hours, you can call (800) 472-3273 to restrict all activity on your credit union account. Simply enter your account number and the # sign.

It is important that you then call (786) 425-5000 on the next business day to have your account unrestricted and have your card tagged lost/stolen.
