Your referral must open a qualifying UCU checking account and complete the required program qualifications within 60 days.
1. Refer a Friend Program: Offer valid as of August 3rd, 2026 and subject to change or cancellation without notice. To participate, the referring individual must submit a referral through the official University Credit Union Refer a Friend program. The referred individual must be eligible for membership and open a new qualifying UCU checking account using the referral invitation provided through the program. Referral rewards are available only for new checking accounts. Existing members, joint account holders added to an existing account, and individuals with current or previously closed UCU checking accounts may not qualify. Self-referrals are prohibited. Referral bonuses are limited to referrals made through the official Refer a Friend program and cannot be combined with other referral offers unless otherwise stated.
2. Checking Account Reward Requirements: To qualify for the referral reward, the referred individual must open a new qualifying UCU checking account, receive at least two qualifying direct deposits totaling $250 or more, complete at least 12 debit card purchase transactions, and enroll in eStatements. Only qualifying direct deposits from an employer, payroll provider, government agency, pension provider, or similar source will count toward eligibility. Transfers between accounts, peer-to-peer payment services, mobile payment applications, and cash deposits do not qualify as direct deposits.
3. $200 or $400 Free Checking Bonus: Once all qualifying requirements have been verified, the referring individual and the referred individual will each receive a $50 Mastercard Virtual Reward. Rewards will be delivered electronically to the email address associated with each participant through the referral program platform. Both accounts must remain open and in good standing at the time rewards are issued. Accounts subject to closure, restriction, fraud review, or other adverse account status may be disqualified from receiving rewards.
4. Additional Limitations: There is no limit to the number of eligible referrals a participant may make. However, University Credit Union reserves the right to disqualify referrals that appear fraudulent, abusive, self-generated, or otherwise inconsistent with the intent of the program. Referral rewards may be considered taxable income. Participants are responsible for any applicable tax reporting obligations. University Credit Union reserves the right to interpret, modify, suspend, or terminate this promotion at any time.
